International day of action for trade unionists in Iran

Demonstrate for Mansour Osanloo, Mahmoud Salehi and union rights in Iran

On Thursday 6 March there will be a trade union demonstration outside the Iranian Embassy in London as part of a worldwide day of action against the repression and harassment of trade unionists in Iran.

The demonstration will be held from 12:30 to 1:30pm outside the Iranian Embassy at 16 Prince's Gate, London SW7 1PT.

The international day of action has been called by the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF). Here is a location map for the event.

Aggrevating how little of the left cares about Iranian unionists.

Very true. What should also be cause for aggravation however is the fact that unions like the ITF only now start to take an 'interest' in the plight of incarcerated trade unionists when the threat of war is at Iran's doorstep.

The official publicity for this action does not even mention the threat of war or the new round of sanctions on Iran.

Internationalists should attend this - not with uncritical cries of 'solidarity' but with the view of criticising the obvious political shortcomings of such an action.

No to war, no to repression! Hands Off The People Of Iran!
